Freeda Cathcart Announces for Roanoke City Council

Date: Thursday January 7 Time: 11:00 a.m.Where: Market Square Walkway (top level on the market side of the glass walkway between the Downtown and the Hotel Roanoke)

Freeda Cathcart is running for Roanoke City Council to work on creating opportunities for better paying jobs. Her business skills and experience will benefit Roanoke City government while providing a valuable perspective to Roanoke City Council.

Freeda knows the importance of Roanoke City Council working with the local schools, Virginia Western Community College, the Roanoke Higher Education Center and local industries to make sure our children have the skills they need to be prepared to enter the work force. 

Freeda is committed to protecting and promoting Roanoke's quality of life. She will work with neighborhood associations and civic groups to continue to improve Roanoke's many amenities.

Freeda says, "Roanoke has been an excellent place to raise my family. I will work hard to make sure Roanoke's children have the same opportunity as previous generations to have a great quality of life and good-paying jobs right here in our city."

Freeda Cathcart, FLMI formerly worked for Shenandoah Life Insurance Co. as a reinsurance specialist. Appointed by Gov. McAuliffe, she serves our Commonwealth on the Pharmacy Board. A graduate of the Roanoke City Leadership College, she was recently elected to once again be the President of the Grandin Court Neighborhood Association. Freeda actively serves our community and region as the Public Policy Chair for the Blue Ridge District of the General Federation of Women's Clubs Virginia.
