Candidate forum

The Democratic Central Committee of Shasta County is sponsoring a candidate forum on September 6th at 3:00 pm at 1800 Park Marina Dr. in the event center of the UPEC building. All of the candidates who are seeking election on the city council will be in attendance, the representatives of both Measure A & B will be in attendance, as will Congressional Candidate Heidi Hall from Congressional District 1. Our incumbent representative Doug LaMalfa had one of his staff call and simply state "we are going to pass on this one". The voters of Congressional District 1 deserve better from our elected representative; LaMalfa's refusal to debate or engage his constituents speaks volumes about the character of the candidate; the people of this district deserve a representative who is willing to listen to the  voters, will engage the voters, and avail himself for organized candidate forums in his district. This event will be moderated by conservative radio host Carl Bott. The DCC is happy to bring to our community a forum in which the voters get an opportunity to hear from their candidates, hear the candidates positions, and then the opportunity to ask them questions. This event is free to all who wish to attend; the DCC welcomes donations  to help offset the cost of bringing this forum to the voters of Shasta County.

Screening of the Documentary film Citizen Koch

Citizen Koch is a documentary film directed by Academy Award nominated directors Carl Deal and Tia Lessin (Trouble the Water, Fahrenheit 9/11, and Bowling for Columbine). In this searing expose' on the state of Democracy in America and the fracturing of the republican Party, Deal and Lessin follow the money behind the rise of the Tea Party and they investigate the unlimited, anonymous spending by corporations and billionaires and their effect on our electoral process; featuring stories of life-long republicans whose loyalties are tested when their families become collateral damage in the GOP fight to bring organized labor to their knees. Alternately terrifying and funny, Citizen Koch is an essential and powerful portrait of our political times. Tickets to this screening are available only online and the cost is $9.00. The screening is August 28 at 7:00 pm at the Valley 11 Cinema in Anderson. Tickets should be purchased as soon as possible as we have a minimum presale threshold of 60 tickets that must be met by August 21 in order to guarantee our screening date. In the event we fail to meet our threshold purchases will be refunded. Tickets are not charged to your card until they release your tickets directly to you via email. The link to purchase your tickets is http://www.tugg.com/events/10593 this film will be an eye opening educational experience for all viewers, and every voter should educate themselves to the dangers, power, and corruption big money can have on our political process. We hope to see everyone at the movies.

Immigration Dodged Again

Speaker Boehner once again dodged doing anything about immigration reform. This time he blamed the President: claiming incredulously that he did not trust the President to enforce any new immigration reform.

Really? So now yet another excuse to pander to the xenophobic base of the Republican Party.

We Democrats lost this a long time ago. We are the Party of immigrants, of diversity with no compromise.

And people are not fooled!

Welcome to our website!

The Democratic Central Committee of Shasta County is part of a growing political force in the North State! We have a vibrant committee that is involved in raising funds for Democratic candidates, creating an upward swing in Voter Registration in the 10 counties of CD2 and involving ourselves in community affairs. Redding and Shasta County are the political and commercial leaders north of Sacramento. A large government, recreation, medical and educational component attracts a diverse and growing population to the North State. It's these 21st Century Progressive settlers that we look forward to helping change the county from Red to Blue!
