NOV 4 -- Election Night Watch Party
As you know, the election is underway. If you have not already done so, please do not forget to vote. This election is big and will lay the groundwork for 2016. It is so important that Rick Scott remains as our governor.
Please plan to join us at O'Briens on Election Night, November 4, to watch the election returns come in. O’Briens is located at the corner of Kings and Lumsden. We will meet 6:30 PM, and the polls will close at 7 PM. This is a combined social event with the Alafia Republican Club and the Greater Brandon Republican Club. With the many races, state and local, as well as control of the Senate in the balance, the evening promises to be most interesting.
Poll Watcher Training with Frank Giorgio
Long-time Poll Worker in Hillsborough County, Frank Giorgio, gives informative training on what is necessary to be an effective poll watcher. With the election upon us, this is a timely reminder for all who have volunteered their time to ensure election integrity. Five segments comprise the entire training session.

Countdown to Election Day
As we countdown to Election Day on November 4, we urge you to participate in activities to support Republican candidates up and down the ballot. There is much to do, and we need you involved. The following is a list of recommended activities to help make Election Day a success for the conservative cause:
WAVING TO WIN EVERY THURSDAY. We will be doing a Waving to Win every Thursday from 5 till 6:30 PM. This is a great opportunity to show public support for your favorite candidates and to have a lot of fun with like minded conservatives. Signs are provided. The following is the location schedule:

10/23 — Bloomingdale Library
SATURDAY MORNING WALKS. Every Saturday, from 9 AM till 1 PM, walkers will be canvassing neighborhoods in Eastern Hillsborough to help get out the Republican vote. An advanced polling method have been developed to identify swing voters that would would be open to the Republican message and need some gentle persuasion to come out and vote. Walking routes are designed to combine the campaigns of Dennis Ross, Ross Spano, Al Higginbotham, and all candidates running for state office. Breakfast and refreshments will be provided. Meet at Brandon Field Office, 1602 Oakfield Drive, Suite 207 in Brandon to participate. POLL WATCHING. This is a huge need for the Rick Scott Campaign. Help the Governor's Campaign by volunteering to be a Poll Watcher. Early Polling places, and 32 Polling places on Election Day across Hillsborough County have needs for Poll Watchers. PHONE BANKING. Callers Wanted! Make calls for Governor Scott's Campaign from home with a suggested script. Again, please contact MarDee Buchman and she'll get you set up!
YARD SIGNS AND BUMPER STICKERS. Yard signs and bumper stickers are now available for most candidates. Please pick some up for friends and neighbors too. Please stop by the Brandon Field Office, 1602 Oakfield Drive, Suite 207 in Brandon to get them.
Of course, the candidates also need your time and financial assistance. We urge you to personally get involved the the candidate of your choice and help them win.
As a result of all that must be done as we count down to Election Day, the Alafia Republican Club will not be holding an October meeting. The idea we would like to impart is that now is a time not so much to meet, but a time to DO. Please plan to get active in some way to support the party in its efforts this election season. We need you involved!!!
SEP 18 -- Waving to Win in 2014
As we did in the final weeks of the 2012 election, we will be doing a Waving to Win every Thursday in Brandon from 5 till 7 PM. Starting Thursday (9/18), we will meet at Lumsden and Kings. The following week, we will go the entrance to the Brandon Town Center on SR 60 (by Barnes and Noble). We will move the location around to keep it interesting. All Republican and conservative non-partisan candidates and their people are welcome to join us. Please pass this information on to your contacts.
SEP 9 -- Alafia Republican Club Meeting
The Alafia Republican Club will be holding its next meeting on Tuesday, September 9, at River Hills Country Club (3943 New River Hills Parkway, Valrico). Social time begins at 6 PM, and the meeting starts at 6:30 PM.
Our featured speaker for the evening will be COL (Ret.) Jim Waurishuk speaking on the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). This is a huge issue in the news lately, and Jim provides a uniquely qualified perspective on what the America response should be to this threat. With an anniversaries of 9/11 and the Benghazi attack, this coming week takes on additional importance.
Waurishuk is a retired U.S. Air Force colonel and a former senior fellow with the Atlantic Council in Washington, D.C. He is also former deputy director for Intelligence at U.S. Central Command, and a former White House National Security Council staffer. His most recent article on this ISIL issue can be linked HERE.
Florida House Representative Jake Raburn will also be joining us to discuss his initiatives for the coming legislative session.
Dinner is optional and will be ready about 6:15 for those interested. A cash bar is available for soda and alcoholic drinks.

AUG 15 - Movie Night at Beef's featuring "IndoctriNation"
On Friday August 15, we will be having a movie night at 7 PM at Beef O Brady’s at 4330 Bell Shoals Rd. We will be showing IndoctriNation, a film that exposes the government schools for their unconstitutional stand to remove God from said schools and to teach children anything but the truth about where they came from and why we learn. It is well done, serious and funny, and a must watch.

AUG 12 - Alafia Republican Club Meeting
The Alafia Republican Club will be holding its next meeting at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, August 12, at River Hills Country Club (3943 New River Hills Parkway, Valrico).
Gregg Prentice will be speaking on efforts to reduce voter fraud in Florida. This is a serious issue in our state, and is multi-faceted in the way that fraud occurs. We appreciate and support efforts that require great tenacity and attention to detail that he champions. We are looking for volunteers to help Gregg in his efforts.
Early voting starts August 14 for the Primary. We will also be hearing from perhaps as many 10 local candidates in their final appearance before the start of early voting. We will allow time for any candidate who wishes to attend to make their final appeals.
Dinner will be ready about 6:15 for those interested. A cash bar is available for soda and alcoholic drinks.
JULY 8 -- Alafia Republican Club Meeting
The Alafia Republican Club will be holding its next meeting at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 8, at River Hills Country Club (3943 New River Hills Parkway, Valrico).
The focus of our meeting will be Hillsborough County Commission races in District 7 (countywide). We will be hosting three candidates (in alphabetical order), Al Higginbotham, Don Kruse, Robin A. Lester, Tim Schock. We are allowing each candidate a total of 20 minutes to speak. Q&A will be allowed as time permits. This will be a lively and informative session helpful in deciding who would best serve Hillsborough on the County Commission.
Dinner is optional, and will be ready about 6:15 for those interested. All are reminded that these meals are what allow the club use of the meeting room. Cost of the meal is $15.
JUNE 10 -- Alafia Republican Club Meeting
The Alafia Republican Club will be holding its next meeting on Tuesday, June 10, at River Hills Country Club (3943 New River Hills Parkway, Valrico). Social time begins at 6 PM, and the meeting starts at 6:30 PM.
Our featured speaker for the evening will be COL (Ret.) Jim Waurishuk speaking on a variety of national security issues, with emphasis on Systematic Shortfalls in Nigeria, Libya, Syria and other countries. He has been a career senior intelligence and political-military affairs officer for nearly 30 years, and continues to work as a military staff advisor and consultant. He appears regularly on radio at the Tampa Bay Morning Show, The Schnitt Show, and the Malcolm Out Loud Show. His columns on National Security appear in the Tampa Times, The American Thinker, The Out Loud Blog, and other news publications.
Thomas Stallings of Cornerstone Church will also be returning to give us an update on his campus ministry at USF.
JUNE 20 - Movie Night at Beef's
On Friday June 20, we will be having a movie night at 7 PM at Beef O Brady’s at 4330 Bell Shoals Rd. We will be showing Honor Diaries, a film about Islamic ‘honor violence’ against women and girls. The movie seeks draw attention to save women and girls from human rights abuses – around the world and here in America.

April Alafia Meeting
The focus of our meeting was Hillsborough County Commission races in District 4 (East Hillsborough). We hosted three candidates, Rick Cochran, Janet Dougherty, and Stacy White. We allowed each candidate a total of 20 minutes to speak. Q&A was allowed for each. This was a lively and informative session helpful in deciding who would best serve East Hillsborough on the County Commission.
March 2014 Alafia Meeting
The focus of our March meeting was Hillsborough School Board races in District 6 (county-wide) and District 4 (East Hillsborough). We are allowing each candidate a total of 10 minutes. In that time they will introduce themselves, and then address the following questions:
1. As a member of the Hillsborough County School Board, what would be your #1 priority?
2. Among your opponents, what makes you the best qualified candidate?
3. What is your position on Common Core?
January 2014 Meeting
Sen. Tom Lee spoke to us as did some USF College Republicans. Election of Club Officers topped off the meeting. The meeting was also covered by Frank Shearrow in the Osprey Observer.
